What we promise, and what you should not rely on us for.

Last updated 4 September 2026.

What this service is

Belief Calendar computes religious observance dates from published rules and reports what religious bodies say about themselves, quoted and attributed. The free pages and the current year’s calendar are open to everyone. Paid plans add multi-year subscription feeds, regional variants and, for organisations, seats on one account and an API.

The accuracy you can expect, stated plainly

This matters more than anything else on this page, so it is not buried in a schedule.

What we cannot promise is that a faithful quotation is never misleading in context, that our choice of what to quote is free of bias, or that a source is itself right. No religious authority has reviewed this site, and we do not claim expert endorsement.

Where you must not rely on us alone

Use our dates for planning: rotas, term dates, meeting scheduling, leave policies, catering. Do not treat them as a religious ruling. For anything where being wrong carries real consequence for a person’s observance, confirm with the relevant authority. This is the same caution any calendar deserves, and we would rather say it than have you find out.

Where an employment or education decision turns on a specific date, the responsibility for checking it remains yours. We give you the authority and the confidence marking so that checking is possible.

Paying

If you are a consumer in the UK you have 14 days to cancel a new subscription and get your money back. Asking us to start straight away does not remove that right, though we may charge for what you used before cancelling.

If we get a date wrong in a way that materially affects you and you tell us, we will correct it, tell every affected subscriber, and refund the period in question if you ask. That is a commitment, not a gesture.

Using the API and the feeds

Facts are not owned by anyone and we make no claim over the date of a festival. What we ask you not to copy is our compilation, our wording and our confidence markings.

Availability

We do not promise the site is always up. Enterprise agreements may carry a specific service level, and where they do, that document takes precedence over this page. If we need to make a change that would break an existing integration, we will tell Enterprise customers before we make it.

Ending it

You can stop at any time. We may suspend an account that is abusing the service, not paying, or reselling access, and we will say why. If we close the service altogether we will give subscribers reasonable notice and refund any period paid for and not delivered.

Liability

Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. Subject to that, our liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before it arose, and we are not liable for lost profit or business interruption. If you use the free pages and pay us nothing, our liability is limited to putting the mistake right.

Complaints and law

Write to legal@beliefcalendar.app. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protection of the law where you live.

Changes

We will change the date at the top when we change these terms. If a change reduces what you get or increases what you pay, we will email subscribers at least 30 days before it takes effect, and you may cancel.
